SMS Opt-In & Consent

Last updated: 2026-07-07

How consumers opt in

Consumers are never added to a Simplae messaging list in advance. They opt in by initiating contact themselves: a visitor sends the first text to a business's Simplae number. Before doing that, the number is shown to them alongside this disclosure:

By texting this number you agree to receive conversational SMS from Simplae on behalf of the business. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Because the customer sends the first message, opt-in and the first reply happen in the same exchange — there is no separate signup form or pre-checked consent box. Business owners never text a customer who has not texted in first.

What customers see before they text

Below is a live rendering of the disclosure shown on the /try-itpreview page, using placeholder data for a fictional business ("Example Dental Studio") and a reserved sample phone number. This is the same component and copy real visitors see, not a mockup drawn separately.

Text it from your phone

Your assistant is already on duty. Text it like a customer would.

This is a temporary number to test your assistant — don't share it with customers yet. Your real number is coming.

By texting this number you agree to receive conversational SMS from Simplae on behalf of the business. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.

Sample messages

These are Simplae-branded examples of the kinds of messages a business sends after a customer texts in — generated from the same templates used in production, not written separately for this page.

  • First reply after a customer texts in

Thanks for contacting Example Dental Studio. This conversation is powered by Simplae AI. We'll help with your request. Message frequency varies based on your conversation and requested services. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

  • Appointment confirmation

Hi, this is Example Dental Studio! Just confirming your appointment for tomorrow at 2pm. Reply YES to confirm or call us to reschedule. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.

  • Reply to a service question

Hi from Example Dental Studio — thanks for reaching out about routine cleaning and exam. A team member will follow up shortly. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.

  • Service follow-up

Example Dental Studio: Your service is complete. Reply with any questions and we'll get back to you. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.

  • STOP opt-out confirmation

Example Dental Studio: You have successfully opted out of SMS messages from Example Dental Studio. You will no longer receive SMS from this business. Reply START to opt back in or HELP for assistance.

STOP / HELP handling

Every inbound message is checked for a compliance keyword before anything else runs — including the AI. Replying STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT (any case, exact match) opts the number out immediately: no further SMS is sent to that number until they reply START, and the AI assistant never sees or responds to the message. Replying HELP gets an immediate reply with contact information instead of an AI answer, for example:

Example Dental Studio: Thank you for contacting Example Dental Studio. Reply with your question or contact us at (415) 555-0142. Reply STOP to opt out.
